Novartis News

Posted May 9, 2012

Since December 2011, veterinarians across Canada and the US have been dealing with backorders on products such as Sentinel and Interceptor; two of our most popular flea and deworming medications, due to manufacturing issues at the Novartis plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The impact on our patients have so far been minimal, mostly consisting of us limiting the quantity we are dispensing to patients in an effort to ration our stock.

Novartis representatives recently informed us that they are expected to resume production in a few weeks and hope to have product available by late summer.

How does this impact you as a pet owner?

For now we will continue to ration our current supply and instead of purchasing a 12 month supply of Sentinel or Interceptor for your pet, we may ask you to purchase a 2 or 3 month supply (at the same tablet price as a package). If we run out of stock before Novartis is able to resume normal business, we will discuss alternate options (and there are some!) with you to determine what is best for your pets’ individual needs.

Thank you for your patience!
