Persian (including Himalayan)

The ideal Persian should present an impression of a heavily boned, well-balanced cat with a sweet expression and soft, round lines. The large round eyes set wide apart in a large round head contribute to the overall look and expression.

Coat colours: Persian coat colours come in too many varieties to list here, the basic “Divisions” are: Solid Colour, Silver and Gold, Smoke and Shaded, Tabby, Parti-Colour, Calico and Bi-Colour.  The Himalayan coat colours are: Seal Point, Lilac Point, Chocolate Point, Blue Point, Cream Point, Flame Point and Torti Point.

Doctor's Advice

These quiet, docile cats are extremely popular in North America. Their long, thick coat will matt unless brushed out daily. Polycystic Kidney Disease affects almost 40% of Persians worldwide and results in early onset kidney problems. Eye care is also an important chore as they are prone to corneal problems.

Thanks!
