Tenacious, hardworking sheepdog, keen, alert, responsive and intelligent. Neither nervous nor aggressive. Up to 21 inches (53 cm) high, coat moderately long or smooth. Topcoat dense and medium textured, undercoat soft and dense giving good weather resistance. Variety of coat colours permissible. White should never predominate.

Extraordinarily athletic and intelligent, these dogs demand a high level of mental and physical stimulation. Without it, they develop serious behavioral problems. They do not do well in small homes, and cannot tolerate long periods of “down time.”
